Mobile high stool
Conde House (Asahikawa City) announced the "Conde House New Collection 2022". Among them, the high stool “KYU” made of Hokkaido ash wood is attracting attention.
Designed by German designer Michael Schneider, this chair focuses on making every movement smooth and efficient, not just sitting and standing.
"Standing, sitting and moving are very smooth, and the shell-shaped seat has a sense of stability that completely wraps around the body." (Ms. Masae Watanabe from Planning Dept. , Conde House)
The seat with its straight legs and impressive stitching gives a stylish and sharp impression. It seems to be active in various situations, such as combining it with the counter where you eat breakfast or the desk where you work on your computer.

2 works selected by IFDA
On the other hand, two works selected for the 2021 IFDA (International Furniture Design Competition Asahikawa) are noteworthy in the stage of development. "FLAN" impresses you with its wide seat, height that blocks the line of sight, back that wraps around your body and the size of itself. They brushed up the winning work and pursued a more comfortable personal space.
"Even in large spaces such as hotels, airports, and offices, you can relax and concentrate without worrying about other people's eyes."(Ms. Watanabe)
The other "TUB" is a unique stool with a thick seat made of solid wood and a thin pipe. A thin elongated pipe serves as a lighting fixture and serves as a reading stool.
"It's bright at hand, and it's also perfect for flipping through pamphlets at the museum." (Ms. Watanabe)
There are many other uses, such as reading and watching smartphone screens.

Evolving "FOUR"
Furthermore, the new chair "FOUR" by designer Jin Kuramoto, was consciously developed with the recent trend of working from home. Constructed of Hokkaido ash wood, chrome-plated silver, and satin black frames, it stands out not only as a working chair, but also with an elegant design that harmonizes with the interior.
“The arms are slightly wider than the seat surface, and the four frames are devised so that they do not hit the spine even when sitting deeply.” (Ms. Watanabe). "FOUR" is the evolutionary chair that is required in the present age, as it can accommodate any posture and body movement, whether at work or at leisure.
