HAWA Expo. Interview with HAWA Chairman Nguyen Quoc Khanh. Enhancing design capabilities to reach the world

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Chairman of HAWA

How do you feel about the first HAWA event?

Fun and very excited. Taking this opportunity, We expect the growth of the Vietnamese furniture industry in the next year. Due to the spread of the COVID-19, there have been no visits by overseas buyers in the past three years, and the work of domestic companies has been sluggish. We will do our best to get back on track.

What is the position of the furniture industry in Vietnam?

It is an important industry of the country. Last year, we exported $15 billion worth of wooden furniture. The amount of exports is the 4th in the world, but I think it will become the 2nd or 3rd in the near future. The government also has high hopes. The strengths of Vietnamese furniture are that the price and stable of supply, and the Vietnamese people have technical skills. In the future, we must strengthen our design capabilities and promote environmentally friendly furniture production.

How do you plan to develop HAWA in the future?

This time, it was an exhibition that was conscious of export. We would like to hold an exhibition of domestic start-up companies at the end of the year.
We also would like to make it a trade fair where we can show the design power of the younger generation.
